Casillas talking ‘good’ about Mourinho? Read this..

Iker Casillas said:

"Mourinho’s time at Real Madrid was very good for us. I’ve always thought that. We were able to close the gap on Barcelona. The first season was very good, the last one, not so much. There everyone talks about things but that was a relationship that couldn’t get anymore from it. I have complete respect for the coaches, but when there’s something you don’t like, you should talk about them. You should respect your boss."

"Maybe I should’ve spoken to him [Mourinho] and responded to Mourinho, but a lot of people were on my case about keeping silent. I think what angers me the most is that the people thought I didn’t care. We didn’t have a good relationship and that’s it. I decided to shut up. I’m not accusing anyone of anything or leaving anyone out to dry. What’s normal, that in this case, is to talk."

"When we speak with the president, it’s about the dressing room. We didn’t speak about Mourinho to leave. For me, Mourinho was one of the two best managers I have had; daring, with character, then it came out that we pressured him to leave. It was false."

Hypocrisy at its worst!
Iker - the innocent San Iker who shows greatness by even praising his enemy Mourinho?
Oh, please! Iker is the winner in the internal power struggle. These words sound rehearsed and calculating.
“I opted to keep silent for the good of Real Madrid. " For the good of Real Madrid? More for his own good:

Get rid of Mourinho with the help of his journalist-girlfriend and other friends from the media ✔
Get rid of Diego Lopez, a true competitor ✔
Reposition himself as no. 1 by signing a new goalkeeper who can’t demand much ✔

So Iker remains the Saint and Mou is described as the villain, who destabilised Real Madrid. Well done. Mourinho at least is always honest, while Iker acts behind the back.

1.  The Sara Carbonero incident:
Sara leaked information about the problems in the Real Madrid dressing room to the media. You guess from whom she got the details. Iker didn’t comment about these allegations that he was the mole. But who else?

2.   The Casillas-Lopez-Navas issue:
Diego Lopez was playing at first because Iker was injured and then because he was in top form.
Iker’s position was unchallenged until Diego’s arrival and his great performance during Iker’s injury. Before, Iker was quasi automatically starting, if in top form or not.
So Mou was right with his unpopular statement that he regrets not having contracted Diego earlier. Competition is always good.
Then Lopez was kicked out (of course without any influence from Iker, ha!).
Now Navas was signed, a great goalkeeper, but someone who is not in the position to demand anything.

Summary: José Mourinho was the only one who dared to bench ‘San Iker’ when he was not in form. Instead of taking the challenge and working hard to get back in form, the enemies were chased away.
= Iker Casillas stands above Real Madrid. Unhealthy situation!

Jose Mourinho Gives Support for young Shrewsbury fan Lloyd Burton

Mourinho posed for a picture with Lloyd and signed a portrait the boy had painted.

Lloyd was a promising player but is now in a wheelchair having undergone chemotherapy on a brain tumour diagnosed in May last year.

The portrait, autographed by Mou, will be auctioned to raise money so Lloyd, who may never walk again, can have his quality of life boosted with a lift installed in his house and a wet room so he can bathe comfortably.

Lovely gesture. All the best for you, Lloyd ♥

Louis van Gaal: “Mourinho is a Very Special One”

“To see that he’s such a wonderful coach and won in different countries, all championships, I think it’s fantastic.

He has said (he learned from me) and it’s remarkable because in the football world not many people are talking about that. He says it is not only about Louis van Gaal but also (former Barca manager) Bobby Robson. I appreciate that but you always do it by yourself.

He is very special for me because I’ve worked with him and we’ve continued our relationship which in the football world is not always normal.
He is a very modest and emotional human being and I like that.

Jose has worked more than one year already with his team and last year they didn’t win any prizes so you have to build up and he has built up Chelsea.
They are playing like a team and I want my team to do that as well but to play for 90 minutes.”

TODAY’S MASSIVE GAME

Manchester United may not be at the heights of their usual selves, but a red scalp at Old Trafford is worth as much today as it always is.
United have a plethora of defensive injuries, but Phil Jones returned last week, so the standard back 4 of Shaw, Rojo, Jones and Rafael is likely to start. So far United have conceded 12 goals, against relatively meek opponents in Leicester, Swansea, Sunderland and West Ham. Their biggest result has been a 2-1 win over Everton. Di Maria is expected to be fit, and has been by far the best performer for United this season. Rooney is still banned, and Falcao didn’t start last week, so is a possibility. Chelsea may see Mata on the opposing team for the first time. The Red Devils have scored 15 goals so far this term.
Chelsea have had injuries in the striking department this week, with Rémy ruled out for 2 weeks, but Diego Costa has travelled with the squad. Ramires, Mikel and Schurrle have all returned to fitness. Azpilicueta is banned, so Filipe Luis is likely to come in, with the standard defence staying the same. What team is put out will depend on Mourinho’s thoughts about United. Last season he gave them a lot of respect and put out a defensive team to secure a draw, when he really could have gone for the jugular. If you see Oscar starting, expect Chelsea to go all out for the win, if it’s Mikel/Ramires, it will be a cagey affair.
Kick off is at 16:00, team news out at 15:00, and live game tags will be cfc, mufc, and epl.
Sidenote: after West Ham’s brilliant win over Man City yesterday, Jose messaged Sam Allardyce to thank him, an 8 point gap over City would be something to rejoice over.

Sam Allardyce on Jose Mourinho

“Jose has just texted me to say ‘Well done big man’. This shows how important it was for him, never mind for us.

He goes to Manchester United knowing his team will go and perform at their best and if they win it makes the gap even bigger. The result wasn’t for him. It was for us and everyone at West Ham. It will benefit him if they go and get a result at Manchester United.”

Jose Mourinho Post Match Interview - Man Utd 1-1 Chelsea

Man Utd vs Chelsea - José Mourinho Post Match Interview
Manchester United vs Chelsea 1:1, 26.10.14 (53’ Didier Drogba, van Persie 90+4’)

"If I have to speak about the second yellow card, I have to speak about lots of things. And I don’t want to speak about lots of things.
I don’t want to speak about the penalty on Ivanovic.
I don’t want to speak about the accumulation of yellow cards.
I don’t want to speak about fouls.
I don’t want to speak because if I want to speak, I will speak too much.
And you know that I always speak with my heart and I get into trouble.
So I prefer not to speak about it.”

Jose Mourinho Press Conference - Chelsea vs Manchester United 2014

Press conference ahead of the match vs Manchester United, 24.10.14

"I only have positive news! We are playing well, we are confident, we are top of the league, in a good position to qualify for UCL (next stage), the camp is happy."

"Diego has a little chance (to play vs Man United), the same as Mikel and Ramires. Remy no chance."

(Diego Costa) "Everything happens to him! He was obviously injured (hamstring) and then he had to go to the hospital with a viral situation that we didn’t manage to resolve without him being in the hospital over 1 night.
… He trained individually.”

"I don’t yet know if Didier Drogba will play, I’m being honest. In the end (playing 75 min vs Maribor) was a good training session for him. We are happy with his reaction and he is happy too."

“I like to play big matches, I like to play against the best teams. I like to play in the most difficult stadiums. So for me to go to Old Trafford … I did it with 4 different clubs, I did it with Porto, Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea … I like to go there and I like to play there.”

"Man United is Man United! For me doesn’t matter the manager, doesn’t matter the moment, doesn’t matter the table, doesn’t matter the players. Man United is Man United, and I always look at them independent of these factors."

(van Gaal) "During the match I have no time and for sure he has no time to look around and to see who the opponent manager is. Before the match and after the match he is one of my big friends in football and I will always be happy to see him." … "Everybody knows the respect I have for him, I never hide the respect, the relation, and the fact that he had an important influence in my career, but in 2 days he’s my opponent"

"We go to every match to win, but sometimes matches go in one direction where in a pragmatic way you feel one point becomes a good result. Sunday we go to win."

"Drogba is where he has to be, he is at home. And it doesn’t matter if he plays a lot or not, Didier is Didier and we are so happy to have him and his contribition to the team will be always important."… "The moment Diego couldn’t play and especially now when Remy can’t play, he understands the responsibility, he understands the need and he pushes himself to different levels."

"Juan (Mata) is a very good player and very good players are dangerous. Nothing more than that. With Samuel Eto’o it was the same. Lots of talk, he played against Chelsea, he did his job, he scored his goal, we did our job, the relation is good and no problems. So I look at Juan as a very good player and no more than that."

"If I bought Di Maria it was because I liked him. If he was fantastic in my period at Real Madrid - good! Now he plays for Man United. A little bit like Louis (van Gaal) Fantastic relation, very good memories."

José Mourinho reaction Chelsea vs NK Maribor 2014

Chelsea vs Maribor 6:0, 21.10.14 (Remy 13’, Drogba 23’ pen, Terry 31’, Viler 54’ o.g., Hazard 77’ pen + 90’)

"When a player is injured, play another one."

(Hazard letting Drogba take the penalty) “I don’t like. They have the freedom to do it. But he has to score.” (smiles)

"Good results and confidence bring people to their best."

"The best way to respect opponents that are in theory are not as good as you are, is to play the maximum you can."

"We don’t cry on injuries, that’s our philosophy, we don’t cry, we just think that one injury means one opportunity for somebody else."

"In Zouma we trust a lot.
Aké is on a different level, almost, almost, almost there.
Solanke is in the phase of the talent that we know is there, but he’s far from being there. (smiling like a proud daddy) His legs were tired for sure, even before he came in, his heartbeat was very high even before the first run, but this was a first time, something he’ll never forget. And for sure he’s going to play many, many Champions League matches because he will be a very very good player.”

"We are in the group phase and played 3 matches, to be in the UCL final you have to play 12, a long long way to go. I think it is premature to speak about that."

"We made a big investment on Diego, he’s 25, so 6, 7, 10 years to play here. And Didier brings us a lot of things, apart of being still a good player. So we kept that balance. After Nando went to Milan we had to make a decision and Remy was a good decision because he is a good player, in a good age, also a player that can play also from the side, which gives us other options."

"To finish first (in the UCL group) will be a fight for that we need for sure the last 2 matches."

Jose Mourinho Press Conference - Chelsea vs Crystal Palace, Oktober 2014

Press conference ahead of the march vs Crystal Palace, 17.10.14
As always, a pleasure to listen to the verbal pearls of The Expressive One. I looooooooove it when he says ‘sink’, this little imperfection in all his linguistic brilliance is the icing on the cake. ♥ ♥ ♥

Influence on the decisions of the national team managers to call up a player
"During my career some of them, not many, but some, used to contact me to ask about the situation of our players but many don’t. When they contact me I’m always open about speaking with them.
They have the power, we don’t have the power.”

"Sometimes you want to impose your style and sometimes you want to adapt to the opponents’ style. In their style, Palace are better than us so we have to play our own game."

Palace manager Neil Warnock compared Mourinho to Brian Clough.
"I obviously feel very flattered with his comments but I don’t think there is a comparison. Mr Clough is a legend in English football; what he did, especially at Nottingham Forest, will be remembered forever. It was a big loss for English football when he went so early but I’m nobody compared with him."

"Every football manager knows about the game, methodology and tactics, but they are not all strong in other areas. This area is a fundamental one and because of that Neil Warnock is a good, difficult opponent.”

"We know the team we are building and the feelings are obviously very good, but the same way I’m not in hell when things aren’t going well, I’m not in paradise because we are doing well."

Ronald Koeman Manager of the Month for September: “First of all I think Ronald deserves it, he’s a great guy and a good friend, we worked together for a while.
I’m so happy he arrived in England and things are going well for him.
The second reason I’m happy is because the manager of the month always loses the next match. Garry Monk lost against us, so I don’t want the award.” (laughs)

Former Blues defender William Gallas has announced his retirement from football
"He’s the kind of player that when you have him in your squad, instead of having 22 players you have 24 or 25, because he plays left-back, right-back and in central defence on the right or the left.
I don’t remember any mistakes by William, I just remember so many untouchable performances.
I was so sorry to lose him at the time because he was such a fantastic player. He should be very proud of his career and I wish the very best for the rest of his life.”

Eden Hazard Talks about The Special Manager - Jose Mourinho

How special is The Special One?

Eden Hazard explains:

"I like the way he gets you going as a player. There is a lot of respect. This is the best coach in the world. He gives me a lot of confidence. Even after a bad game, he puts me right again.”

“He might have a little dig, saying: ‘Today we played with 10 men’. But it stops there. Then he will leave me alone, he will not break my head. It’s the first time I have known a coach who operates like this. The others tended to protect me. Him, he really wants my potential to explode - and he does everything to make it happen.”

"I had no fears, but I was wondering when he would attack me. I remember my first warm-up matches in Asia. He killed me once or twice and then I thought, ‘Oh, okay, this is the Mourinho style’.
He fixes you in his eyes, and you feel underneath, you’re no good. If you do not give 100 per cent, you know he will not let you go - and it might hurt.

"There have already been great shouting matches in the locker room, but they will stay internal.
But the image I had of him is true: of a great coach who has won everything, who shares his experience and is very close to his players. He defends you all the time in public.”

Andre Schurrle on Jose Mourinho

"I went through a hard schooling with him [Mourinho], he put me on the bench in my first year."

"But he has helped me. He has explained to me what I must do better. That I have to bring consistency in my game. I need to invade the penalty box much more often. The best example is Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo is always where it is dangerous, where the goals are scored."

"Jose Mourinho has a different way of thinking. Another way of me playing so that sometime I get to the absolute top of the world."

"Jose Mourinho has taught me another style of play and a different way to try every day to achieve a world-class level."

“For him, it is a failure to be second, he does not know the words ‘to lose.’”

"He thinks in an impressive way, you get the messages in such an impressive way."

“He challenges us to be strong on the pitch, to play as men. I feel much better since I’ve come to Chelsea and I have become more confident.”

Post Match Notes, Chelsea vs Arsenal, Oktober 2014

WENGER PUSHING HIM
"For me, it is over. But the technical area is very clear - I have mine, he has his and he cannot come to mine, especially to put pressure on the referee to give a red card to my player.
So I just told him ‘leave my technical area and don’t come back please’. Nah, it is no problem.” (♥ his facial expression! ♥)

REFEREE
"I think the referee, from a technical point of view, had a fantastic performance in a difficult, technical, fast match with lots of runs behind - also the linesmen had a difficult game and I think they did a fantastic job.
But Arsenal could have finished with eight men, because it is a red card for Koscielny, it is a double yellow card for Chambers in the first half, and clear was a red card for Welbeck.
But I accept that the Welbeck red card was not given - the game was over and Welbeck is a good kid and is not aggressive. It was just maybe a reaction, some frustration. So I have no complaint really but my boys are doing fantastic we beat a good Arsenal.”

PERFORMANCE
"It was a difficult game. They started better than us, but Eden gave us the penalty and the first goal and the game could have finished there if it had been a red card.
At the end of day they had more of the ball than us but we had the chances so we scored two goals, we won and I am happy we beat a good team.”

Jose Mourinho Press conference Big Match Chelsea vs Arsenal, 03 Okt 2014

     Diego Costa
"I’m not going to save him for playing in perfect condition in the national team."
"I don’t know how long it takes to have him 100% fit."
"He’ll be in OK conditions to play vs Arsenal."

    Rivalry with Wenger
"I never had the pleasure to play one-on-one against him, not even beach soccer. That pleasure was always Chelsea against Arsenal."
"What happened in the past, is the past."
(18 years Arsenal coach) “Congratulation to him and the club! I congratulate both, Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.”

    Fabregas
"He was, I don’t say born, almost made at Arsenal and the feeling between the fans and him should be a good one."
"Every game, no exception, he has been phenomenal for us. I couldn’t be happier with the moment we decided to bring him to Chelsea."

    "I expect a difficult match."
"I like it difficult, I like to play against the best."

    'Specialist in failure' remark
    "I didn’t get apology, so I don’t apologise."
"My feeling is to go over it and forget it and to move forward."
"I don’t need to aplogise, intelligent people, football people, don’t need that."
We (coaches) have the responsibility to give a good football match to the millions, maybe billions of fans English football has around the world.”

Jose Mourinho After Champion League Match, Chelsea vs Sporting

The Happy One, post-match Sporting Clube de Portugal v Chelsea FC 0:1, 30.09.14

“These were happy days when I was here at Sporting. I made many friends. I don’t forget my friends. It’s very good to be with them. I had a chance to speak with Marco Silva and ‘link’ with him.”

Joking about his conversation with Rui Patricio after the match:
"I’m not going to repeat the words because they’d be censored. It was something to do with spoiling the evening, spoiling the night."

"The result could have been different. They could have lost more resoundingly. They could also have drawn. They waited for the luck that can come at the end of a game."

John Terry: “Only very few can compete for the same team in the Champions League for 100 games. He may not have been captain in all those games, but surely in 90 of them. He’s an iconic player and will go down in the history of the club. The club of 100 is a limited group.”
